Most people do not realize that EMAIL is not secure. What does that mean? It means that someone else may be able to view your private and personal emails. Apparently, it is not as difficult as you think. You should always create your EMAIL with this in mind: what if someone else could read this? I am not worried as much about embarassment – that does eventually pass. I am worried about someone unscrupulous getting access to things like birthdates, social security numbers and account numbers. It is hard to meet someone nowadays who hasn’t been the victim of either identity theft or fraudulent charges on a credit card. There is a great deal of information on the internet about what to do if you find you have become a victim. The trick is not becoming one! So please do not put confidential information in your emails. If someone needs your social security number, date of birth or account numbers, call them. Or you can fax them if you have the old fashioned kind of fax that goes out on a phone line. Some businesses have the ability to utilize SECURE EMAIL. If you need to send me something confidential, call me first. I have a special secure email address that I can give you.
